Hey everyone! I recently discovered that my son accidentally left our stand-up freezer open for over a week. I've done my best to clean out the inside, but when I plugged it back in, there was this terrible smell coming from the motor area, likely from some spilled liquid. I made sure to shower, so it's definitely not me causing the odor! I have an ozone machine to help with the smell, but I'm unsure how to clean underneath the freezer while it's still running. Any advice on how to tackle this would be super helpful!

Sounds like the juice got into the defroster tray next to the motor, which is a common issue. To clean it properly, you'll need to unplug the freezer and gently pull it away from the wall. Remove the front or rear covers to access the fan, and there should be a tray that collects water from defrosting. Make sure to clean that out thoroughly and any other spots where the goo could have spread. Using OxiClean or a citrus cleaner can help break down the mess and eliminate the smell. Good luck tackling it!
Haha, I love how people thought you needed a shower! Just a heads up, there's a drip pan on the back of the appliance that likely needs cleaning and disinfecting too. This seems like a perfect job for your son who left the door open! Seriously though, make sure that gets cleaned to avoid any lingering odors.
