How to Clean Rust Stains and Dirt from a Rooftop Deck While Renting?

Hey everyone! I'm renting an apartment and trying to spruce up the back deck for the summer. Unfortunately, there's some dirt that's really caked on, and there are also rust stains that I'm struggling to clean. I can't use a power washer because my landlord doesn't allow it. I'm looking for some effective methods or products that could help me get this area looking fresh again!

First off, I'd recommend trying a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Apply it to the rust stains, let it sit for a while, and then scrub with a brush. For the dirt, a good scrub with soapy water can go a long way. If your stains are stubborn, you might want to consider a rust remover that is safe for the surface you have. Just check the labels to make sure they're suitable for your type of deck! Good luck!

Also, don't forget to rinse well after using any cleaners! You want to avoid any residue that could cause more rust.

You might find that using a stiff brush and a mix of lemon juice and salt can help lift the rust stains, too. Just scrub it on and let it sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing off. And for the caked dirt, one of those non-abrasive scrubbing pads could help. Just make sure whatever you're using is safe for your deck material!

Thanks for those tips! I’ll definitely try the lemon juice and salt method. Appreciate the help!
