How to Cope with Heartbreak and Neglected Plants?

I'm going through a tough breakup, and it's been hard for me to even get out of bed. My plants are suffering because I haven't had the energy to take care of them, and I feel guilty for neglecting them. They used to bring me a lot of joy during hard times, but right now, I'm just stuck crying and watching TV. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar and how you dealt with it?

I totally understand what you’re feeling. After dealing with loss, I let some plants go and focused only on the ones that had sentimental value. It's less overwhelming if you can reduce the number of plants you worry about. They just need a splash of water once a week to stay alive until you feel more ready to care for them. Remember, you’re not a bad plant parent if some don’t make it!

It's just plants, really! They shouldn’t add to your guilt. I went through some health issues myself, and during that time, my plants got neglected too, but they surprisingly bounced back when I paid them some attention. Just take care of yourself first. Move a little, eat when you can, and focus on getting through this. If you feel overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to talk to someone – it can really help!

I know it’s tough, but taking small steps really helps. I started taking care of just a few plants a day. I also got rid of any dead plants so I wouldn’t feel guilty looking at them. Settle into self-care first, and the rest will come eventually! Wishing you all the best during this tough time. ?

Take your time! Don't be hard on yourself for what's happening. I've been there, and what worked for me was to slowly start with just one plant I loved. Treat it to a little 'spa day' by cleaning its leaves and watering it. It felt good to be moving again, and it sparked my interest in caring for all my plants. If one doesn’t make it, it’s totally okay! You got this!

I'm really sorry you're feeling this way. Just remember, before you can care for your plants, focus on yourself first. It’s like on airplanes when they say to put on your oxygen mask before helping others. It's tough, but taking small steps can help you recover. I recommend checking out Finch, a self-care app that can help set daily goals and motivate you to complete them. Also, consider focusing on just a few plants that mean the most to you – sometimes it’s better to let go of the ones that are really struggling. Remember, this phase will pass!
