How to Cover That 1″ Gap Above My Kid’s Bedroom Doors?

I've got two bedroom doors for my youngest, and they both have about a 1" gap at the top. This is letting in way too much light, making bedtime a challenge. I've spent around 15 minutes searching online for ideas, but most of what I found is just about weatherproofing and fixing crooked doors, which isn't really what I need. I'd love to sew something to place over the doors, but I'm stuck on what pattern to use. I'm hoping someone here might have some experience or creative ideas! And if this isn't the right place for this question, feel free to point me in the direction of a better subreddit.

What about using foam weatherstripping at the top? You can install it on the door jamb, and it would block the light without needing to make any drastic changes to the door itself. Plus, you could follow up with a door sweep at the bottom to seal things off better!

You could try hanging a blackout drape over the gap. Just install it on the side where the door won’t hit it as it opens. You can get a curtain and cut it down to the right length to fit perfectly over the opening.

If you want something more quirky, why not just slap on some bright red duct tape? It’ll block the light and add a bit of fun to the room, plus it's super easy to remove later if you change your mind!
