How to Create or Buy a 3 TPI Blade for a Frame Saw?

I'm looking to make or find a blade for a frame saw that has a cutting specification of 3 teeth per inch (TPI). Does anyone know how I can make one, or where I could purchase one besides Blackburn Tools?

To make your own blade, you might want to use .042" 1095 coil steel, which is a standard thickness. You'll need to get a strip about 4 feet long and 4 inches high. Mark the teeth every 3/8" for a pretty good result, which translates to around 2.67 TPI. I've been using a similar setup for a while, and it works great! Just keep in mind, filing the teeth can be a tough job that takes a couple of hours. Also, make sure the steel stock is flat and not rounded at the edges, as that can dull your files quickly. Good luck!

If you want to save some time sharpening, try hacksawing the depth first. You can use a broken hacksaw blade attached to a piece of scrap wood for consistency with spacing.

I got my blade from a user called Ok_Examination4602. It worked well for my frame saw setup, so you might check them out!

I've heard you can repurpose a band saw blade by cutting it down. However, the tooth design might differ since band saws are usually powered differently compared to hand-powered frame saws. I haven't tried this myself, so I’m curious if anyone has actual experience with it.
