I'm looking for advice on how to safely remove 1/4" plywood underlayment from my floor without disturbing the cabinets. My plan is to use a multi-tool equipped with a depth setter to cut around the cabinets. I'll be tearing up the sheet vinyl and the plywood underlayment in other areas, but I want to make sure I leave the plywood beneath the cabinets intact. Any tips on making a clean cut or break as I work around the cabinets?

To make your life easier, try scoring the underlayment deeply with a utility knife. Make several passes since it's only 1/4" thick. Then you can peel it up and snap the edges cleanly at the base of your cabinets. Once you’ve removed the main part, use the multi-tool to tidy up the edges for a better finish.
