How to Cut 4′ x 8′ Plywood Sheets in Half: Best Methods?

I'm planning to make four shelves for storage in our basement and I've been shopping around at Menards, Home Depot (HD), and Lowe's. Menards would be the most affordable option due to my rebates, but I can also use them for other essentials. While HD has a plywood cutter, they are the most expensive option. Lowe's, especially with my military discount, could potentially save me the most money. However, I need to figure out the best way to cut the plywood from 4' x 8' sheets into 2' x 8' sheets. I need a total of 16 sheets, and since I can't fit them in my vehicle or use my contractor table saw at home, I'm considering cutting them at the store. Would I need to buy a cutting guide to make this easier? Would it just end up being cheaper to have Home Depot do the cutting? Any tips or suggestions would be really helpful!

You could get an 8' cutting guide from brands like Kreg, Bora, or even Harbor Freight for around $40. Alternatively, just grab a straight 2x4, mark your plywood at the 2' mark, clamp the 2x4 down, and cut along that. It's pretty straightforward!

Don’t forget that Home Depot also offers a military discount! Since you’re buying multiple sheets, you might just use the edge of another panel as a guide for your circular saw. That's a quick and easy way to do it!

Yeah, but be aware that the military discount doesn't usually apply to building materials like wood.
