How to Deal with a Tight Doorway Between the Garage and Kitchen?

Hey everyone! I'm facing a bit of a challenge in my home where the garage entryway door opens into the laundry room, and right next to that is the kitchen. The flow here gets super congested, especially when more than one person needs to pass through. I'm thinking about switching the garage door to swing into the garage itself and maybe installing a pocket door for access to the kitchen. What do you all think? Any other suggestions to make this area less cramped?

Definitely reverse the garage door! You mostly go garage to laundry to kitchen anyway. Have you thought about just taking the kitchen door off entirely for a test run? It’s less work than installing a pocket door. Just remove the hinges and see how it feels for a couple of months. If it’s still too open, you can always go back to the door or try adding some funky swinging cafe doors for a bit of style.

Thanks for the suggestion! I might try that and see how it changes things.

Reversing the garage door and putting in a pocket door for the kitchen sounds like a solid plan! It helps with the flow, and honestly, a lot of people I know just leave that laundry door open most of the time. A pocket door would work great since it won’t take up space when it’s open.
