How to Deal with Couch Grass in My Garden?

I'm located in North Georgia, Zone 7 or possibly 8, and I have a small homestead that includes a vegetable garden and a small fruit tree orchard/food forest. I've tried using cardboard and mulching several times with arborist mulch, but this pesky creeping couch grass just won't go away. I'm looking for some effective advice on how to tackle this problem.

For me, pulling it out just didn't cut it. I had to dig out over half a meter of soil to remove the rhizomes! Just yanking at the green stuff won't do much, unfortunately. It's a lot of work, but it might be necessary to really get it under control.

I totally get your struggle—couch grass can be relentless! I've found that deep mulching can really help by smothering some of it. Even if a bit comes back, it struggles to take hold in loose mulch. Give that a shot if you haven’t already!
