How to Fix an Electrical Outlet That's Sticking Out?

I recently noticed that some electrical outlets in my house are sticking out about 1/4 inch from the wall. It's not drywall, but rather some thin wood panels. Is there an easy way to push the outlet further into the wall, or can I use a thicker outlet cover to make it appear flush? The current cover is wobbling and leaves a noticeable gap.

You can definitely use a multitool to cut the box back so it's flush with the wall. Just be aware that if the box isn’t an adjustable type, you might end up having a pretty tricky time getting it to sit properly again. One would think they would have already adjusted it if it were possible!

HandyDude42: So, can I just pull out the box and resize the hole? From what I can see, something on the side is preventing the box from going in all the way.
