I recently pressure washed my driveway and now I'm facing a couple of problems. I've noticed some hairline cracks where weeds are sneaking through, and I've also washed away the filler that was between my slabs. I'm looking for the best ways to tackle these issues. I was considering using a backer rod followed by joint filler and finishing off with a sealer. I'm especially worried about water getting underneath due to the freeze-thaw cycles here in BC, where temperatures can drop to -15°C. Filling the cracks with sealant could be a tricky task since they might not hold up well over time. If you plan on continuing to pressure wash the driveway, I suggest looking into a surface cleaner attachment. It can significantly reduce the chances of damaging the surface otherwise.
For the weeds, I'd recommend using some weed killer but be cautious not to harm your grass. As for the cracks, if you're set on filling them, consider using paver locking sand – it works pretty well if applied correctly. Just don't stress too much about it if you don't feel it's necessary!
