I've got a bathroom door that's about five years old, and I've noticed the screws in the bottom hinge are getting loose. I've tried tightening them, but they just won't catch anymore. I considered getting a handyman to replace the whole door frame, but I'd like to know if that's really necessary. Can anyone suggest an easier fix for this issue? Thanks for any advice!

Replacing the door frame is definitely overdoing it for loose hinge screws! Instead, consider using 3-inch screws that are long enough to reach into the stud behind the wall. If you want an even easier fix, you can repair the screw holes using wood glue and either wooden golf tees or toothpicks. Just fill the holes with the glue-coated pieces, let them set, and then reinsert the screws. It should hold up pretty well!
Whatever handyman suggested replacing the frame without seeing the issue is missing the point. Usually, this can be solved easily with longer screws. 3 inches should do the trick!
No need to replace that frame! Just pull the screws out, fill the holes with small pieces of wood or toothpicks dipped in wood glue, and wait for it to dry. This method will actually give you a stronger hold than before. When you’re ready, drill out the holes again and use longer screws. You'll be good to go!
I agree with everyone here; longer screws will save the day! Just buy some 2" or 2 ½" screws and use them for the hinge. They'll reach the wall stud without needing to replace anything. Simple and effective!
You’ve got plenty of options! Consider filling the screw holes with sawdust and wood glue, then replacing the screws once it dries. Or, if you really want a solid fix, use wooden dowels in those holes for added stability before screwing back in. No need for a frame replacement here!
