How to Fix My Glass Patio Door After Using WD40?

I've got a sticky glass patio door situation. My husband decided to spray WD40 on the tracks thinking it would help, but it's now worse than ever! I can barely open the door. What's the best way to fix this mess? Any tips on how to clean it up or what lubricant to use instead?

Honestly, WD40 isn't the best choice for this kind of issue. It’s oil-based, so dish soap can help break it down. Clean off the track well and consider using a wax paper or candle wax for lubrication next time—it won’t get sticky like that oil does. Good luck, you got this!

From my experience, it’s best to take out the door, clean both the rollers and tracks thoroughly, then put everything back. Sometimes the wheels wear down or get stuck, which might be your issue. If they’re too far gone, there are cheap replacements online! Just make sure to check for any blockages or dirt buildup first before reassembling.

First things first, you'll want to remove the door to get a clean look at the tracks. WD40 attracts dirt, which is likely making things worse. Give those tracks a deep cleaning with some degreaser or warm soapy water. After that, switch to a dry silicone spray for lubrication—it won’t draw in dirt like WD40. That should hopefully get your door gliding smoothly again!
