My floors make a terrible popping noise every winter when the humidity changes. I noticed in my crawl space that there are gaps between the subfloor and the floor joists, which is causing this noise every time I walk on them. Should I take off my laminate floor in the summer to re-screw the affected subfloor areas down to the joists, or would it be better to go into the crawl space and use L brackets to secure the subfloor?

Before you decide, check if the floor is still flat across the space. If it's just a small section, I'd recommend crawling under there and using some construction adhesive to fill those gaps. Just give it some time to cure after applying. It worked for me when I had a similar issue! But if it’s more extensive, you might need a more thorough approach.

I tried that adhesive method in several spots, and it didn’t solve the problem for me either. It might be worth exploring the screws or L brackets instead.
