How to Get a Cleaner Edge When Ripping Panels?

Hey everyone! I'm starting a project where I need to make some panels from 3/4" thick boards. To achieve the right fit, I need to rip a few pieces to size, but I'm not a fan of the edge finish my table saw leaves. I'm considering making a rough cut with the table saw, leaving it about 1/8" longer than needed, and then using my router table to clean things up. Some of the panels will be around 2 feet long and up to 10" wide. I can definitely build a bigger router table and fence if I need to. What do you think? Would this approach work well?

Testing how well your technique works on some scrap is a smart move. It’ll give you an idea of what to expect without risking your main project. Don’t worry too much about straining the router; just guide it gently and let it do the job. And hey, if this project is for your wife, I’m sure whatever you make will be a hit! Good luck, and keep us posted on your build!

That’s a good point! I’ll run a few tests first. I want to make sure everything comes out perfect. I’m excited to see how it all turns out!
