How to Get Rid of Annoying Fruit Flies and Gnats?

I've been dealing with an invasion of fruit flies, drain flies, and fungus gnats in my 5-bedroom house, but I can't seem to find where they are coming from! We don't have any fruit out, and I'm pretty sure our plants are fine too. I've tried the baking soda and vinegar method in the kitchen drain, but there's no specific spot they seem to gather around. They're appearing all over, even upstairs, and it's super frustrating because it feels like there's no clear source for them. I've set up some of those sticky traps and a bug zapper, which catch a few, and I've also tried bowls of white vinegar and dish soap, but nothing seems to work. Should I consider switching to apple cider vinegar? With them popping up in every room, I'm seriously thinking about calling an exterminator!

They could really be coming from a drain! Make sure to flush all your drains; sometimes gunk can build up and attract them. Just running water might not be enough—consider using a drain cleaner to really clear them out!

Great idea! How exactly do I flush drains properly?

Definitely give apple cider vinegar a shot! It seems to be much more effective than white vinegar. Just cover a bowl with some plastic wrap and poke a few holes in it, and that should do the trick. Also, keep an eye out for any rotting veggies or potatoes—you might find the source there!

Sounds like a tough situation! Since you have kids, I'd check their rooms thoroughly—there might be a hidden snack or some crumbs attracting the flies. Also, I read that the baking soda and vinegar combo isn’t the best; it’s better to stick to one method at a time. You might want to go hard on just the vinegar instead!

Haha, right? I’ll definitely check under the couch and in storage. Kids can be sneaky with their snacks!
