How to Handle Microplastic Lawn Waste After Tarps?

Asked By NatureNinja42 On

I recently discovered that the previous homeowners covered everything outside with tarps, and now there are tiny shreds of plastic all over our wood piles and dirt. I'm looking for effective ways to dispose of this plastic material to prevent any more from leaching into the soil. Any suggestions?

Get rid of those tarps first! Rake up the shreds and dispose of them properly. Just remember, disposing of microplastics isn't perfect, but every little bit helps. If you're wondering about trash bags, it's usually okay to use one as long as they're sealed tight; just stick to regular waste disposal rules!

Is it okay to mix the plastic with other lawn waste in a regular trash bag? I just want to make sure I’m disposing of it correctly.

Using a shop vac is a great way to suck up those microplastics! Just make sure to empty the bag into a sealed trash bag to keep it contained.

Honestly, just do your best to pick up as much as you can. It's a tough battle against these tiny plastics. Don't let it stress you out—focus on what you can manage!
