How to Handle Water Damage on My Bathroom Ceiling?

I was just brushing my teeth when I spotted something concerning on my bathroom ceiling. It's been pouring rain for weeks, and I'm worried about possible damage. So far, it looks like a minor issue, but we all know house repairs are rarely straightforward. Any advice on what I should do next? Here's a picture of the damage: https://imgur.com/a/nKw94eM

First off, definitely consider giving a roofer a call. It could be that your roof is leaking, or there might be an issue with the bathroom exhaust fan where moisture is sneaking in. Better to get it checked out before it turns into a bigger problem!

Looking at that picture, if it’s indeed water damage on the ceiling, it’s a good idea to head up into the attic ASAP or call in a roofer. Even if it looks like a small issue, sudden water accumulation can lead to bigger problems. When we bought our house, I found all sorts of makeshift fixes, and it’s always best to get a professional assessment when dealing with water.

You mentioned it’s an old patch where you did some electrical work, so it’s great you’re considering having someone check that out too. Just stay proactive!

By the way, I had a similar spot and just a little bit of water was entering, but it turned into a larger issue fast! Good luck!
