I'm about to move into my new apartment for college, but I can't use nails on the walls due to potential damage fees when I move out. I've found this great mirror that weighs 30.9 lbs and has a sliding door with shelving, which might add 10-15 lbs more when I place items on it. I've been looking into solutions, and I came across French cleats with adhesives, but I'm not sure if that's safe. Any suggestions?

You could consider using over-the-door brackets instead. It's a way to hang the mirror without installing anything permanently on the walls. Just make sure whatever system you use is rated for the weight. That’ll help prevent any accidents, especially with guests around!
I’d recommend checking out anchor hooks designed for drywall. They create barely noticeable holes which are easy to fill later if you don’t want to lose your security deposit. Pairing them with some strong Velcro strips for extra stability could work as well. Just be careful with how much weight you rely on those strips for!
Those little holes are definitely less of a headache than paying for damage!
Honestly, it's really tough to securely hang that weight without making any kind of holes in the wall. Most adhesives aren't reliable for something that heavy, and they could end up damaging the wall when you try to take them off. It's just not worth the risk!
Yeah, I totally agree! If you go for a heavy adhesive, it’ll probably just cause more trouble in the long run.

That’s a solid idea! Thanks for the tip. Maybe I can find brackets that fit my door.
