I live in a 19th-century cottage that I rent. My bedroom faces north and it gets no air flow at all, even when I open the window and keep the door wide open. The southern bedrooms get good air circulation, but that doesn't help me. Also, there's a hot water cylinder in my closet, which makes it even hotter in there. On top of that, the previous tenant's cat really messed it up; I've tried various odor removers, but the smell seems to be stuck in the floorboards, and I can't replace them since I'm renting. I wake up feeling very uncomfortable and sick, even with an air purifier and fan running overnight. I'd appreciate any suggestions to improve the air quality and circulation without having to resort to sleeping on the sofa!

Just out of curiosity, why not use one of the other bedrooms instead?
You might want to try setting up a box or pedestal fan in the hallway, blowing air into your room, and have a window fan blowing air out of the window. This can create a nice airflow. Window fans are really handy because they can be set to blow air in, out, or both, and they fit securely in the window.
Have you thought about getting a fan? They can make a huge difference in stagnant rooms like yours. If you haven’t tried one yet, it’s worth a shot!

Well, my sister is in one bedroom, and my mum uses the biggest one most of the time. I don't want to take that from her, and my sister would definitely not let me switch rooms without a fight! ?
