How to Improve Airflow and Returns in Bedroom HVAC Setup?

Hey folks! I'm trying to enhance the airflow in my bedrooms since they currently only have supply vents, with the only return situated around the doors. I'm looking for suggestions on how to optimize this. I'm considering using a stud bay to connect each room to the hallway, placing the returns low in the bedrooms and high in the hallway for potential soundproofing benefits instead of just running returns straight through the wall. Any ideas or methods that have worked for you? Thanks!

If you want a big improvement, consider going for a zoned HVAC system. I set up a mini-split in my finished attic, and even in the peak of summer heat, it's super comfortable. Plus, it really helps with sound transfer between rooms! It might be pricey, but the benefits are worth it.

You could try cutting a bit more off the bottom of your doors if you haven’t already. It’s a simple fix to help boost airflow a bit.

It’s definitely interesting to see how setups differ around the country. I live in Florida, and it seems like many homes just have one large grate at the air handler, which can lead to some inefficiencies.

Totally! That used to be the norm before we figured out that it wasn't the best for air circulation.

Same here! We just have a single return in the hallway and it's a struggle to balance temps throughout the house.
