How to Install Baffles in My Double Wide Mobile Home’s Attic?

I'm trying to figure out how to install baffles in the attic of my double wide mobile home. I'm considering using the soffit vents for this. Is this possible? Any advice on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated!

Baffles are used to maintain airflow in attics, especially around insulation. But in double wide homes, the attic space can be pretty limited, often cluttered too. If you're looking at baffles, they usually go in the rafters to prevent insulation from blocking ventilation paths from soffit vents. Just ensure your attic has the right setup for them!

Yeah, I totally get that. If your attic is small, it’s crucial to confirm you can actually reach the soffits from there. Otherwise, the whole baffle idea might not even work for you.

While 160°F might sound extreme, it’s actually common for attics in summer. If you want to enhance ventilation, consider a powered gable vent or an over-roof with proper ventilation and insulation. Also, don’t forget: an energy audit can sometimes yield better results than just boosting ventilation!

Before you dive in, definitely check out your specific attic situation. I've only worked on one double wide before, and it was clear that those intakes needed to be accessible. If you can reach the soffits from your attic, then your baffle plan should work!

I totally get it! Climbing on those beams isn't my idea of fun either. I hope your summer attic heat isn't unbearable—160°F is pretty rough!
