I'm planning to install pegboard in my garage over drywall and will use furring strips for creating space for the pegs to work properly. However, I'm stuck on how to effectively join the ends of the pegboard sheets together. I was thinking about placing three horizontal furring strips per sheet and screwing the panels right at the edges. Would using drywall tape for smoothing out the seams before painting be a good idea? I'm open to any other suggestions you might have!

When joining pegboard sheets, using horizontal furring strips is a great start! I added vertical furring strips at the seams where the sheets meet, which really helped create a smooth joint while sacrificing only a few holes. Plus, it felt more stable this way! Don't forget to add those same vertical strips at both ends to maintain consistency.
