Given that I live in an earthquake-prone area, I've learned that securing furniture to the wall is vital. It might not seem like a fun solution, but it’s really the safest option to prevent any potential accidents.
If you're not going for wall anchors, be prepared for some annoyances like drawers that don't extend enough for you to reach everything at the back. Some flat-pack furniture comes with anchor kits for a reason! However, using heavy weights at the base could help with stability.
I like the idea of attaching a steel bar at the base to lower the center of gravity. I’ll have to run some calculations on the fulcrum point to be sure it can’t tip over when the drawers are fully extended.
