I went to grab some tools from my barn, and every single battery was dead. Is there any way to prevent this from happening besides just bringing them inside the house?

To keep your batteries alive in the heat, try to store them in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Charging them when they're hot can also shorten their life, so it's best to avoid that.
If you can, keep the batteries at a partial charge around 30%. That way, they shouldn’t self-discharge too fast even in higher temperatures. Some people also suggest using an Igloo cooler with a gallon of water inside to keep the temp down. Just make sure to bag the batteries first to avoid any mess!
Storing batteries in a garage that's protected from the sun can help a lot. I keep mine in a cabinet in a laundry room that's not climate-controlled but stays cooler than outside. You might also think about a carrier to make transporting them easier!

Good tip! Just remember to put your batteries in a ziplock bag before adding that water to the cooler!
