How to Keep Cats, Dogs, and Foxes Out of My Garden?

I've recently revamped my front garden, putting in flower beds with some beautiful peonies that I'm really proud of. I've also lined the beds with tree bark chippings and placed soft spikes around the future lawn area to deter any animals. However, I've noticed local cats are still managing to get in. I live in the city center, where many people walk their dogs, and unfortunately, some of them let their pets do their business in my garden despite my attempts to address it. This has been a persistent issue for years! Just this morning, I found signs of digging around my bark chippings, likely from dogs or maybe even foxes. Does anyone have effective methods or products to keep cats, irresponsible dog owners, and local foxes from ruining my garden?

If you're considering plants, I've heard that foxgloves are toxic to cats and dogs! Just planting a bunch of those might help, but be careful—it's a bit of a double-edged sword since they’re poisonous. Of course, this is just a suggestion, not full-on advocacy.

Consider sprinkling some chili powder along your front boundary. It tends to repel most mammals! You could also plant herbs with strong scents like basil, lavender, or mint, which can deter cats and other animals from hanging around.

Yeah, physical barriers are really the best route for cats. Sonic devices and water sprays haven't been effective for me. If you go the sign route, sometimes just putting up a warning can make a difference, as a lot of dog owners might not even realize what's happening when they're distracted.
