How to Keep My Neighbor’s Cat from Pooping in My Garden?

Hey everyone! With spring around the corner, I've started prepping my garden. I noticed that my neighbor's cat has been leaving its business all over my soil, and I'm worried about contamination. Has anyone dealt with this before? What solutions might work to keep the cat away while I get my garden ready?

Cayenne pepper and pepper flakes worked wonders for me. I had a huge yard and they were using the soil I prepped for veggies. Just sprinkle some around and it should help keep the cats away.

Have you thought about those devices that emit high-pitched sounds? They’re supposed to deter cats and dogs. I haven’t tried any myself, but maybe it’s worth a shot!

Honestly, don't stress too much! Nature's just doing its thing—it's not just cats you have to worry about; there are plenty of other critters that poop in soil as well. Just enjoy your gardening!

Glad to hear that! So I don't necessarily have to throw out my dirt? That's a relief!

I've heard that scattering pine cone bits around your garden can deter cats because they don’t like walking on them. It's my first year trying it out, but I'm hopeful!

Definitely clean it up thoroughly! I use a litter scoop for that. Once I get the poop out, I found that shredding lemon grass and mixing it into the soil really helped. And in the meantime, some lemon peels could work to keep them away—though make sure to watch out for the potential toxicity to cats!

Just a heads-up, citrus peels can actually be harmful to cats, so it might be best to avoid those!

I had a similar situation! I ended up rigging up a fence of pinwheels around my garden. It looks kind of silly, but it actually worked to keep the cat out!

That's a creative solution! I might give that a try!
