How to Maintain Grout in My Shower and Prevent Leaks?

I recently remodeled my bathroom about six months ago, and now I've noticed that some of the grout in my standing shower is coming off a bit when I scrub it. I'm worried this might lead to leaks. How can I maintain my grout properly? And should I be concerned about potential water leaks with the grout coming off?

First off, be sure to check if your grout is sealed. If it’s unsealed, that could be the issue, and you might want to consider sealing it yourself. If your contractor said sealing wasn't needed, that may not always be the case. Keeping the grout clean and sealed can help prevent water damage and leaks, so keep an eye on it! Letting it wear down could definitely lead to leaks over time. If you’re unsure, it might be worth asking a pro to take a look.

Maintaining your grout is pretty important to avoid bigger issues. Regular cleaning can help, but make sure you’re using gentle cleaners to avoid breaking it down further. If you find more grout pulling away, you might need to re-grout those areas or seal the grout to prolong its life. Just don’t ignore it since that could lead to moisture issues down the line!
