I recently had a paver patio installed in Fall 2023, but the sealing didn't happen as planned due to some rainy weather and both of us forgetting about it after the initial visit. I thought about sealing it myself last Fall, but the temperatures dropped before I could get to it. Now, I've noticed some issues while cleaning the patio, like loose polymeric sand in maybe 1-3% of the surface, some moss growing particularly near the foundation, and some green discoloration in certain spots that looks like mildew. I'm wondering if it's still beneficial to seal the patio now. Also, can I just add polymeric sand where it's needed, or do I have to remove all the old sand and reapply it completely? I've seen videos about doing the whole patio, but I'm interested in whether a partial fix would work in my case. Thanks for any tips!

I second that! Go for the sealing; just address the immediate issues first. If you’re only missing sand in spots, it’s way easier to patch those areas rather than redo everything. Just clear out the loose sand, replace it, and then seal the whole patio once you're set. Good luck with it!
