I'm looking for some advice on creating a homemade battery that can output 1.8 to 2 volts of electricity. Ideally, I'd like to set it up for a USB connection or just use a simple red and black wire setup with common household items. Any tips or guidance would be appreciated!

You can make a simple battery using 4 potatoes, some pennies, washers, and wire. Each potato acts like a cell. Just connect them and you should get the voltage you're after!
