How to Make a Windowless Bathroom Plant-Friendly?

Hey everyone! I'm about to move into an apartment with a bathroom that has no windows, and I'm really keen on adding some plants in there. I'm a bit worried about their light needs, plus I want to be able to do my makeup under good lighting. So, I have two questions: First, what types of plants can thrive in a hot and humid bathroom environment? And second, can anyone suggest some energy-efficient light bulbs under €15 that will work well for this kind of space? Thanks a million for the help!

It can be tricky without natural light, but if you're willing to use a grow light, many plants do well in humid conditions. Just remember that most traditional ceiling lights might not provide the intensity your plants need. Ideally, a grow light should be placed close to the plants and on for about 12 hours a day, but I get that’s not always practical. So check if you can set up a lamp—if you’re in the EU, you might have plugs in the bathroom for small devices, so that could help!

Actually, in many EU countries, it's common to have plugs in the bathroom for things like hair dryers or electric razors, so it might be easier than you think!

So, should I just get a normal ceiling light plus a small grow light for my plants? I'm not really familiar with the setup.

For lighting, definitely check out LED bulbs, as they are cost-effective and energy-efficient. Brands like Ikea or local home improvement stores usually have options under €15. You can often find a bulb labeled 'daylight' that mimics natural light, perfect for makeup and plant growth! Just make sure the wattage fits your fixtures.
