How to Measure for Half-Drawer Construction with Plywood

Asked By CraftyFox27 On

I'm working on building half drawers using 3/4" plywood, and I have a question about measurements. When I'm measuring for the width, do I only need to deduct the width of the drawer slides from my measurements? Or is there more I need to consider?

You're on the right track! For your drawer box, you'll want to take the width of the front board plus the width of your drawer slides into account to get the right inside width of the box. So yes, you just subtract the slides for your width measurement. If you're planning on using locking rabbets, just focus on subtracting the slides from the opening width, as that should give you what you need. Just make sure the slides are installed correctly!

Got it! So mainly focus on the slides, and the rabbet doesn't change that too much?
