How to Mount a 55-Inch TV on a Square Metal Post?

I'm looking to mount a 55-inch TV on a 4-inch square metal post. What are the best options for doing this? Can I use U-bolts along with a heavy-duty wall mount?

If you can drill into the metal, a great approach is to make your own bolt threads and screw the TV mount directly into those. It gives a secure fit for the long term, just remember to use something like Titebond to make everything stick.

Definitely go for a proper wall mount to avoid damaging your TV. A good idea would be to attach a piece of 3/4" plywood to the post using snap toggles and then attach the mount to that using pan head wood screws.

You'll want to go with a pillar TV mount specifically designed for this type of setup. It's built to handle the weight and provides the stability needed for a larger TV like yours.

Mounting should be pretty simple unless wind could be an issue. If wind might be a factor, skip the hook-on gravity mounts. Instead, opt for a bolted arm type mount. You can attach that to your metal post with U-bolts — just make sure to drill and tape holes for a secure fit, or even better, drill all the way through and use through bolts with nuts and washers for a solid hold.

That sounds solid! Drilling through could really add to the stability, especially if you're in a windy area.
