How to Mount a Shadow LED Guide on a DeWalt DW708?

I'm considering swapping out the laser on my DeWalt DW708 miter saw for an LED shadow guide, as I've heard they're much better. However, I'm struggling to find a suitable mounting spot for the shadow guide. The only place I've identified is on the plastic safety cover (as shown in the image linked), but I'm not sure if that will work since it would need to point towards the blade when it's fully down. Has anyone attempted this or have any tips?

I don't have experience with your particular model, but I managed to secure an LED light on my 779 model. I placed it right above the blade where that black piece of plastic is, facing downward toward the wood. That way, the blade sits between the light and the workpiece.

Are you talking about the area within the red circle or is it on the opposite side of the blade? This setup seems very similar to mine—how large was the LED you used? I’m worried there’s only about half an inch of space available.

It seems like for a shadow guide to work properly, it might need to be positioned on the opposite side of the blade. Have you looked into setups like this one? Check out this video [here](https://youtu.be/m7SVAuQhevg?si=pMjD3nstHk9VNg-t) for some ideas.

Are you referring to the video about creating a shadow line? That's actually what I'm trying to achieve. However, my DeWalt saw is structured differently compared to the Ridgid saw in the video, which has a unique housing that allows for easy light installation. I've got the image of my saw here for comparison.

I couldn't upload my picture directly, so I took a screen grab of where I placed the LED—it's super glued right where my finger is pointing. Check it out!
