Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out how to set up my family room with a TV mounted over the fireplace as the main focal point. My concern is twofold: how do I properly run the cords so they don't look messy, and is there a good option for placing devices like a DVD player or game consoles nearby? There's about a foot of space on either side of the fireplace next to the windows. Any tips would be super helpful!

I’ve mounted my TV pretty high, and it hasn’t bothered me at all. I’ve installed my PS5 and Roku behind the TV and run the HDMI cables through the wall for a clean look. Just depends on your setup and comfort preferences!
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend putting the TV up that high. It really isn't good for your neck to be looking up like that. If possible, find a different spot for it.
You might want to consider getting a specialized mount that lets you lower the TV to a comfortable viewing height when you're using it. For your devices, a lot of folks run the cables down the sides, either inside the wall or through a cable raceway. Another option is to put a shelf next to the fireplace for your DVD player and gaming consoles.
