I've recently gotten into woodworking, but I'm struggling with keeping my workshop organized due to my ADHD. I find that I often lose track of where I've put my tools and materials, which ends up wasting a lot of my time when I try to start a new project. The space starts off neat but quickly descends into chaos, leading to regular major clean-ups. I'm looking for practical tips on how to maintain organization, especially for all the miscellaneous items that tend to clutter my workspace. Additionally, a tidy workshop is crucial for safety. On another note, I've noticed that medication has significantly improved my ability to manage daily tasks in life, but I still struggle with physical organization and maintaining tidiness. Any suggestions?

One trick that's really worked for me is using clear storage containers. Since ADHD often means that things out of sight tend to vanish from our minds, being able to see what's in each container helps a ton. I totally relate to the struggle of keeping a tidy workshop though, especially when space is limited. I’ve got a small shop and it gets messy fast too!
I've got a couple of guiding principles that might help you out: First, adopt the mantra "Don't put it down, put it away". When you finish using a tool, make it a habit to return it to its spot immediately. It’s so easy to forget things if you set them down! Also, consider organizing things by theme—like keep all sanding tools together in one spot. This way you can pull a cart with everything you need for a specific task, which helps minimize distractions as you work. I’ve centered my marking and measuring tools in a rolling mechanics cart, and it makes everything so much easier!
A rolling tool box has been a game changer for me. Before, I had tools scattered everywhere—in buckets, bags, and even my camping trailer. Getting a decent tool box with drawers has helped keep it somewhat organized. I won't lie, everything doesn't go back to its exact spot every time, but at least there's a chance of keeping it all together!
I have a similar setup, but I find my catch-all toolbox is a bit chaotic. Sometimes I can't even find what I need in there! Do you ever face that issue?

That sounds like a good idea! I think I might try clear bins for my small parts.
