How to Paint Over Hard-to-Sand Semigloss Walls?

Asked By CreativeStorm99 On

I'm planning to repaint the majority of my home's interior with a matte finish, except for the bathrooms. The problem is that the previous owner used semigloss paint almost everywhere, and when I tried sanding, it hardly made any difference. I'm looking for options besides just sanding harder, which sounds like a hassle! What should I do?

Try using a deglossing solution or a specific primer designed to adhere to glossy surfaces. Those should help you prep the walls without having to sand them too aggressively. Make sure to ask at the paint store for a good liquid deglosser!

Yeah, this is definitely the way to go! A deglosser can save you a ton of effort.
