How to Prepare Indoor Plants for Winter Without Losing My Little Bug Buddies?

I've started my garden to create something special for my dad while he fights cancer, but I've run into more gardening headaches than I anticipated, especially with pests. Now that winter is coming, I want to bring in my plants. I'm considering isolating them in the basement and using beneficial mites to control any pest issues since I've got some little friends like a jumping spider living in my room. Is this a smart move? Any tips for managing indoor pest control over the winter?

That sounds like a solid plan! Before winter hits, I'd recommend doing some research to identify the specific pests you're dealing with first. Then find out which beneficial mites will work best for those pests—you don't want to waste time with things like ladybugs, as they’re not super helpful for many indoor issues. Just make sure the environment you create works for the beneficials without aiding those pesky bugs you're trying to get rid of.

I had a similar experience, found scale and spider mites on my plants too! Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely start researching which beneficials to choose!
