How to Properly Caulk Around a Bathtub After Removing Grout?

Hey everyone! We just moved into a new house, and I'm finding some questionable choices made by the previous owners. Specifically, there seems to be grout around the tub where it meets the wall, which I know isn't ideal. I've sanded it down a bit with a multi-tool to level it out, but when I first moved in, I tried caulking over it, and it didn't hold up—mold started to form pretty quickly. I'm new to home ownership, and I'm wondering if it's safe to try caulk again now that I've sanded it. What's the best way to tackle this issue? Any advice would be super helpful!

Definitely remove all the old caulk before you try again. It's crucial because if you don't, any leftover bits can lead to mold problems again. Go for a 100% silicone caulk and make sure it says it's resistant to mold and mildew. It’ll last way longer!

And don't forget to clean the area thoroughly after taking off the old caulk! If you skip that step, you'll just end up with the same mold issues again.
