How to Properly Mount a Heavy Bag or Pull-Up Bar to Basement Ceiling Trusses?

I'm finishing up my basement and I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount a heavy bag or pull-up bar. Is there a method to hide the mounting points? I'm thinking about using a 2x6 spanning several trusses on the top side of the bottom plate with spacer blocks. Or is it better to just attach it directly to the bottom of the trusses after I finish the drywall? Any other tips or methods would be appreciated!

It's best to mount at the intersection of the truss members where the nail plate is, as that spot provides better support than the middle of the truss. If you can find a place without pipes running through it, try sheathing the triangular area in plywood to create a stronger support box for the heavy bag. Make sure to add blocking between the trusses to stabilize against sideways movement.

So you're suggesting to mount it underneath the trusses rather than above, right? Would that mean I'd have a long board exposed after the drywall?
