How to Properly Paint a Bathroom Ceiling Without an Exhaust Fan?

I recently bought a house, and my wife and mother-in-law did most of the painting. However, it seems like they skipped priming the bathroom ceiling. Could anyone guide me on what steps I should take? Here's what I was thinking: scrape, lightly sand, prime, and then use semi-gloss paint. Also, just to let you know, we don't have an exhaust fan in the bathroom.
P.S. There's a shower and a large window that's usually open while showering. Any advice would be super helpful!

Yikes, no fan in the bathroom? That can definitely be an issue! You really do need at least semi-gloss for bathrooms to withstand moisture, especially if you’re missing a fan. Just to clarify, is there a shower in there?

You’ll want to scrape off any loose paint, give it a light sanding, and then use a mold-inhibiting primer. After that, go for at least a satin finish, but semi-gloss would be even better. It's crucial to have a way to let the steam escape, like keeping that window open or using a fan to ventilate. Just a heads up, even with the window open, moisture can build up, so be vigilant about that.
