How to Properly Plant Conifers in My Garden?

Hey everyone! I just ordered two conifers to help screen the back of my garden, and since I'm a total beginner, I'm looking for some advice. Can I just dig a hole, place the trees in, and then fill it back up? I have some topsoil I could use too. Are there any specific tips or steps I should follow? Can I add any fertilizer to help them settle in? Also, once they're planted and (fingers crossed) thriving, is there any feed I can use to encourage their growth? Thanks in advance!

First, it's great you're getting into gardening! Make sure to dig a hole that's larger than the root ball of your conifers, giving those roots plenty of room to spread. Mixing in some compost with the backfill soil is a solid move; about half a bag should do the trick. After planting, heel in around the base with your foot to eliminate any air pockets, and give them a good watering. That should set you on the right path!

Awesome tips, thanks! And good to know about the compost. I'll make sure to water them well after planting.
