How to Properly Terminate PVC Conduit for Landscape Lighting?

Asked By SunnyDaze87 On

I'm planning to install low voltage landscape lighting with LED path lights and uplighting, and I want to run the wire inside 3/4" PVC conduit through a planting bed. I've seen some tutorials showing gentle sweeps with PVC, but I'm a bit stuck on how to properly terminate the conduit when it reaches the lights. Is it common to leave the conduit open, or should I use something like a rubber grommet or a cap? Any advice from those who have done this before would be appreciated!

You can definitely use a PVC conduit cable gland or a cable gripper if you want, but a simple DIY method is to silicone seal the end where the cable exits the conduit. Just make sure that you don't trap water in the PVC; it shouldn’t be watertight to avoid any potential water issues.

Would you recommend sealing it up completely or adding some drainage holes at the bottom to let any water out?
