How to Reapply Briwax on Existing Surfaces?

Hey everyone! I'm new to using Briwax and I've been tasked with applying it to some doors, frames, and skirts. I'm wondering what the best preparation steps are for areas that already have an old Briwax finish. Should I just lightly rub it down, or do I need to sand it all the way down? Any advice would be appreciated!

You don’t need to strip the old wax unless it’s in really bad shape. Just use some 000 or 0000 steel wool to rough it up a bit, then apply the new Briwax and buff it out with a microfiber towel. If you do need to strip it, denatured alcohol or mineral spirits with steel wool should do the trick.

Thanks! I ended up doing just one door, and the client mentioned it was already steel wooled because of smoke damage from a fire. So, it was a quick application for me. Honestly, for my first time, it turned out pretty well! Just a heads up, definitely wear gloves or your hands will end up looking like mine—a total mess! ?
