Hey everyone! I've got a crawlspace where the previous owner dug a trench to make accessing the water shutoff easier. We're looking to reinforce the dirt walls of this trench so they won't erode over time and to tidy it up. Since we live in a dry climate, we've never had issues with water down there. Does anyone have suggestions on how we could go about this?

One option I heard about is fluming, where you cut a drainage pipe in half lengthwise. If the trench has a semi-circular shape, that could really help with reinforcement. Plus, I've seen some sites that offer nestable corrugated pipes you might want to check out for this.
From my experience crawling under tons of houses, as long as there’s not a problem causing erosion, those trenches usually stay in place. So, you might not need to stress too much about them moving, but it’s always good to take precautions!
I'm actually dealing with a similar situation! I plan to drive some rebar into the ground along the edges of the trench, and then use boards or corrugated tin as support behind the rebar. Since the area is dry, I'm not too concerned about rust being an issue.

Good to know! Thanks for the insight!
