I'm looking for advice on how to remove a swing set and jungle gym from my backyard in the Minneapolis metro area. Should I hire someone, or is it a doable DIY project? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

First, figure out if the posts are buried or just sitting on the ground. If they’re buried, it’ll be tougher to remove, and folks might be less inclined to help if they can't easily use or sell the set afterward. If it's still usable, giving it away for free is a solid option. If it's trash, just take a sawzall to it and bring it to a scrap yard!
Going DIY isn't too hard if you have a sawzall. You could cut it into pieces and either toss it in your regular trash over a few weeks or just rent a dumpster, which may cost between $300-$500. But honestly, listing it for free is the easiest way. I got rid of my swingset and an old pool that way—both disappeared in under a week without any cost except for my time to supervise the pickup!
If you want a quick fix, try listing it for free on Facebook Marketplace. It's likely someone will take it off your hands within a week, especially if it's in decent shape. You won't have to worry about disposal at all!

Yeah, if you list it as free, it'll probably be gone in no time! Just make sure to mention they need to disassemble it.
