I recently bought an apartment, and I've noticed that the door hinges are covered in paint. I started scraping it off because I want to unscrew them for cleaning and polishing. I've managed to remove the screws on the side attached to the door, but I'm struggling to find the screws on the side that's secured to the wall. Is it possible that the hinge is just really big, or am I missing something?

You might be getting a bit ahead of yourself with the scraping—boiling the hinges and using something like vinegar or baking soda could be a less aggressive way to deal with that paint. If it looks like no hardware is visible, someone might have just overdone it with paint or filler. Try using a heat gun to loosen it, and don’t forget to take out the hinge pins for more space. Good luck!
It would help to see a picture, but there should definitely be screws on that side! Sometimes they can be hidden under layers of paint. Don't lose hope yet!
To find those screws, you'll probably need to scrape around the hinge on the frame side a bit. But realistically, if they're really old, replacing them with new ones might be a better option since modern hinges are often a lot prettier than the old copper ones.
