I'm in a bit of a bind with my house siding. Last year, a windstorm took off a 10 ft piece, and I've been on the hunt for a replacement ever since. The color I need is discontinued, and the siding contractors I've talked to say it's impossible to find. Does anyone know an online platform where I can post my search? Alternatively, is it feasible to remove a piece from a less visible area of my house to use as a replacement? I could really use some advice here! Thanks!

If you're having trouble finding an exact match, take a sample of your siding to a local distributor. They might help you find the closest match available. If the new piece doesn’t exactly match in color, your idea of swapping from a back area is a good one, especially if it’s not too noticeable. Just remember to replace the piece you take off!

I did something similar once, and it worked out fine! Found siding that was visually close enough and swapped out a piece from an area you don’t see much. It can end up being a perfect fix if you play it right!
