Hey everyone! I'm trying to replace my old Broan shower vent fan with something better, but I'm facing a challenge. The metal frame of the current fan seems stuck in the cut-out. I've checked in the attic, but it's really hard to reach since the fan is positioned at a tricky angle on the roof line.
So I'm wondering, what's the best approach? Should I:
1. Find a replacement fan that fits my current setup and has enough CFM—100CFM is what I need, but they're tough to find, or
2. Move the vent location higher and adjust the vent hose in the attic? The new spot would be about 12 feet up but would be easier to access from the attic.
I've also attached a link to some pictures for reference: https://imgur.com/a/Zg5VN9g

If the old frame is stuck, you're definitely not the only one who's had a tough time with a Broan. One option is to look for an upgrade kit that fits using the existing box, which could save you from drywall work—just swap out the internals and grille. Moving the vent is possible too, but remember, cutting new holes means fixing the old ones, running new ducting, and it can end up costing more than just the fan itself. Only relocate if the noise or airflow is really driving you nuts. What are you trying to solve: quieter operation or just fed up with the old box?”,
