I'm in the process of repotting my plants and I'm stuck on how to deal with my cacti. They've outgrown their pots and I need to move them, but I'm worried about the spikes. I don't want to ruin my gardening gloves or end up covered in those irritating little barbs from one of my cacti. My husband is so fed up with accidentally brushing against it that he's decided it needs to go outside! Do I have to buy a separate pair of gloves just for the cacti? I'm worried that if I do, I can't use them for my other plants afterward. I'm looking for any advice or strategies you all might have for handling these prickly guys! Thanks!

I totally get the struggle! I don’t use my regular gardening gloves for cacti anymore. Instead, I grab some mechanic gloves that have thick rubber—they really keep you safe from those spikes! I also recommend wearing an old flannel shirt to protect your forearms while you’re moving them. They work well for yard work too. You might even find that you prefer this method!

Okay, so you wear the gloves and shirt? Are you actually wrapping the cactus in the shirt for extra protection? That's a great idea! I’m thinking I could even use an old beach towel instead.
